Terms of Service
These Terms of Service (the "Terms") govern your use of BalanceNavi (the "Service") and are established by the operator of the Service (the "Operator"). By using the Service, you are deemed to have agreed to these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not use the Service.
Article 1 (Scope)
These Terms apply to all relationships between users and the Operator concerning use of the Service. The Operator may establish additional rules, help pages, guides, privacy policies, or other provisions for the Service from time to time. Such provisions form part of these Terms.
This Service is currently intended for users residing in Japan and the United States. If you reside outside Japan or the United States, compliance with the laws of your country or region is not guaranteed, and use of the Service is at your own discretion and risk. Coverage may expand to additional regions in the future.
Article 2 (Definitions)
For purposes of these Terms, the following terms have the meanings set forth below.
- "User" means any individual or entity that uses the Service.
- "Account" means authentication information created or linked for use of the Service.
- "BalanceNavi Data" means income, expense, asset, loan, category, store, settings, CSV import, and other data entered, created, or saved by a User in the Service.
- "Guest Mode" means a feature that allows Users to try the Service without creating an account, saving data in the browser or device being used.
- "Login Mode" means a feature that allows Users to save and sync data using their own storage, such as Google Drive.
Article 3 (Account Registration and Management)
Users may use the Service in Guest Mode or Login Mode by the method designated by the Operator. Login Mode may use a Google account or other authentication methods supported by the Operator.
Users must provide true and accurate information when registering or linking accounts. Users are responsible for properly managing their own account information and must not lend, transfer, sell, or otherwise make such information available to third parties.
The Operator is not liable for damages arising from insufficient account management, use by third parties, or insufficient management of devices or browsers.
Data created in Guest Mode may be lost due to deletion of browser data, device changes, browser specification changes, or similar circumstances. Users who wish to continue using important data are encouraged to migrate to Login Mode.
The Service is intended for users aged 18 and over. Users under the age of 18 must obtain parental or guardian consent before using the Service.
Article 4 (Service Description)
The Service is a household finance management service intended to help Users record income, expenses, assets, loans, and related information, and understand their financial situation.
The Service includes the following features:
- Creation, editing, deletion, and categorization of income and expenses
- Balance management for savings, investments, loans, and similar items
- Display of monthly trends, cash flow analysis, asset trends, and related views
- CSV import and management of categories, stores, and related settings
- Data storage and syncing across devices using Google Drive
- Other related features provided by the Operator
The Service does not provide financial instrument transactions, investment advice, tax, accounting, legal, or other professional advice. Aggregations, forecasts, charts, simulations, and other information displayed in the Service are for reference only, and the Operator does not guarantee their accuracy, completeness, or future results. Users should consult appropriate professionals as necessary.
Article 5 (Data Handling)
Handling of personal information is governed by the separately defined Privacy Policy.
The Service uses a BYOS (Bring Your Own Storage) model. In principle, BalanceNavi Data created or recorded in the Service is not stored on the Operator's servers. Data created in Login Mode is saved in an app-specific folder in the User's own Google Drive account, and the Operator cannot access the contents of such data.
Users are responsible for managing, backing up, and deleting their own BalanceNavi Data. Data syncing, saving, or restoration may fail due to insufficient Google Drive storage, permission changes, API limits, user deletion, browser or device issues, or similar circumstances.
Article 6 (Use of Google API Services)
The Service uses Google API services. Use of user data obtained through these APIs complies with the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. Google API Services User Data Policy
By signing in to the Service with a Google account, Users also agree to Google's Terms of Service (https://policies.google.com/terms) and Google Privacy Policy (https://policies.google.com/privacy).
Data obtained from Google is used solely for the stated purposes of syncing data across devices and providing the Service. Data obtained from Google will not be used for advertising, ad targeting, or any purpose not described in these Terms and the Privacy Policy.
Users may revoke access granted to the Service at any time from their Google account settings.
Article 7 (Prohibited Conduct)
Users must not engage in any of the following:
- Acts that violate laws or public order and morals
- Acts related to criminal activity
- Acts that infringe intellectual property rights, privacy rights, reputation, or other rights or interests of the Operator or third parties
- Reverse assembly, decompilation, reverse engineering, or other analysis of the Service
- Acts that place excessive load on the Service's servers, networks, APIs, or external services
- Unauthorized access or attempts thereof
- Registration or input of false information
- Impersonation of another User or third party
- Unauthorized collection of other users' personal information
- Commercial use of the Service without the Operator's prior consent
- Acts that interfere with operation of the Service
- Any other acts the Operator deems inappropriate
Article 8 (Suspension, Modification, and Termination of Service)
The Operator may suspend all or part of the Service without prior notice in any of the following cases:
- When performing system maintenance, inspection, or updates
- When provision of the Service becomes difficult due to earthquakes, fires, power outages, natural disasters, communication failures, or other force majeure events
- When provision becomes difficult due to accidents or failures of computers, communication lines, or external services
- When provision becomes difficult due to specification changes, suspension, restrictions, or similar events affecting Google, Clerk, Cloudflare, or other third-party services
- When the Operator otherwise determines that suspension is unavoidable
The Operator may modify or terminate the Service by prior notice to Users or announcement within the Service, except in urgent or unavoidable circumstances.
Article 9 (Disclaimer)
The Operator does not guarantee that the Service will fit a User's specific purpose, have expected functions or value, be available without interruption, be free of bugs or errors, or always accurately save entered or synced data.
Except in cases of willful misconduct or gross negligence by the Operator, the Operator is not liable for data loss, corruption, sync failure, errors in calculations or displays, User decisions, transactions, or other consequences arising from use of the Service.
The Operator does not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or usefulness of information obtained through the Service. The Operator will not be involved in disputes between Users and third parties.
Except in cases of willful misconduct or gross negligence by the Operator, the Operator is not liable for damages caused by failures, specification changes, suspension, termination, or similar events involving Google Drive, Google APIs, Clerk, Cloudflare, browsers, devices, operating systems, or other third-party services.
The Service uses analytics and monitoring scripts provided by third parties, including Google Analytics (Google LLC), Microsoft Clarity (Microsoft Corporation), and Cloudflare Insights (Cloudflare, Inc.). These scripts are loaded from servers operated by their respective providers. Except in cases of willful misconduct or gross negligence by the Operator, the Operator is not liable for any damages resulting from attacks on or tampering with those providers' servers or scripts. Please refer to the privacy policy and terms of service of each provider for information on their security practices.
BalanceNavi Data is stored in the User's own Google Drive app-specific folder. Except in cases of willful misconduct or gross negligence by the Operator, the Operator is not liable for unauthorized access to or damages involving that data caused by compromise of the User's Google account (including password leakage, phishing, or inadequate credential management). Users are strongly encouraged to enable two-factor authentication (2FA) on their Google account.
Except in cases of willful misconduct or gross negligence by the Operator, the Operator is not liable for third-party access to BalanceNavi Data resulting from loss or theft of a device, or leakage of authentication credentials. Users are responsible for appropriate device management, including enabling device lock settings.
Article 10 (Intellectual Property Rights)
Copyrights, trademarks, and all other intellectual property rights related to the Service belong to the Operator or third parties with legitimate rights.
Rights to BalanceNavi Data belong to the User. However, Users grant the Operator the right to use BalanceNavi Data to the extent necessary to provide, maintain, sync, display, and assist with backup of the Service.
Article 11 (Account and Data Deletion)
Users may delete their account at any time from the Service settings screen or by another method designated by the Operator.
When an account is deleted, the following data will be deleted:
- Account information managed by Clerk (email address, session data, etc.)
- BalanceNavi Data in the app-specific folder in the User's Google Drive
The Service will also revoke the Google OAuth token and disconnect from the User's Google account. However, depending on network conditions or the state of external services, deletion of Google Drive data may not complete successfully. In that case, please manually delete the data and revoke access from the Google Account app permissions page or from the app-specific folder in Google Drive.
Guest Mode data may be deleted by deleting browser data or through device operations. Deleted data may not be recoverable.
Article 12 (Changes to Terms)
The Operator may revise these Terms when deemed necessary. For significant changes, the Operator will endeavor to notify Users in advance through the Service or another appropriate method.
The revised Terms take effect 7 days after being posted within the Service or on the Operator's website. Continued use of the Service after the revised Terms take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
Article 13 (Governing Law, Jurisdiction, and Language)
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with Japanese law. Any disputes arising shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of Japanese courts. Under Japanese civil procedure law, all court proceedings are conducted in Japanese. Accordingly, all communications related to this Service — including litigation and other dispute resolution proceedings — will be conducted in Japanese.
Article 14 (Contact)
Inquiries regarding the Service should be made through the inquiry form within the Service or another contact method designated by the Operator.
